Large Machinery Operator
Job Description

Job Location/Main Headquarters:

Conway Springs, KS

Job Purpose:

  1. Perform all large machinery operations in the most timely, efficient, and safe manner possible

  2. Maintain all equipment in working order

  3. Maintain neat and organized facilities

Job Duties/Traits:

  • Operate and maintain large machinery ranging, but not limited to: floater truck spreaders, front-end loaders, and tractor/trailers

  • This position includes managing work orders using precision ag software and making sure the back-office paperwork is in place prior to job commencement

  • Do your part to provide an atmosphere of teamwork, camaraderie, and an enjoyable work environment for everyone at the operation.

  • Collaborate with any employees in your area in accordance with guidelines established by management.

  • Follow all operating procedures and policies established by the management.

  • Production agriculture operations are seasonal and particularly time sensitive – a) Have equipment ready ahead of time, b) Be prepared to work longer hours to accommodate weather, breakdowns and other factors that are beyond our control.

  • Equipment maintenance is one of your priorities – a) Keep safety shields in place, b) Keep fluids at the optimum levels, c) Perform maintenance procedures on time.  Lubricate, change fluids, check tire pressures, watch for unusual wear, fix minor problems before they become major expenses, d) Use off-season time to do major maintenance and repair, e) Have all equipment ready for the field ahead of time. 

  • Safety is extremely important – a) Maintain safety equipment, b) Use goggles, gloves, and other body protection when handling chemicals, c) Use support stands and jacks when working under equipment, d) Wear safety glasses and other protective gear when working on any equipment, e) Be extremely careful around PTOs, chains, belts, gears, and other moving equipment.

  • Perform all data collection and record-keeping duties as defined by management.

  • Keep waste to a minimum and be constantly evaluating additional ways to reduce costs.

  • Keep facilities neat and presentable.

  • Show respect to any and all visitors and/or customers of the operation.

  • Enjoy what you do and provide suggestions to make working here more satisfying for everyone.

  • Any other duties as required or assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Must have basic understanding of crop production practices

  • Must be able to safely & efficiently operate different types of large machinery

  • Must possess or be able to obtain Class A CDL within the first 3 months of employment

  • Must be able to multi-task

  • Ability to drive results and maximize productivity

  • Possess above average analysis and problem-solving skills

  • Proactively and energetically lead projects in a team environment

  • Willing to put in long hours seasonally
