Job Description

Job Location/Main Headquarters:

Conway Springs, KS

 

Job Duties/Traits:

  • It is the overall goal of this position to perform spray operations in the most timely, cost-effective and efficient manner possible.

  • This position is specifically responsible for seeing that all spraying operations are done timely, efficiently, and safely.

  • This includes managing chemical and work orders and making sure these inputs are in place and in stock prior to their use.

  • This position is backup/secondary for: Spreading, Harvesting, Trucking, Tillage.

  • Do your part to provide an atmosphere of teamwork, camaraderie, and an enjoyable work environment for everyone at the operation.

  • Manage any employees in your area in accordance with guidelines established by the management.

  • Follow all operating procedures and policies established by the management.

  • Assist in the design, construction, maintenance, and organization of facilities & structures.

  • Operations that generally take place between April & October can be particularly time sensitive – a) Have equipment ready ahead of time, b) Be prepared to work longer hours to accommodate weather, breakdowns and other factors that are beyond our control.

  • Equipment maintenance is one of your priorities – a) Keep safety shields in place, b) Keep fluids at the optimum levels, c) Perform maintenance procedures on time. Lubricate, change fluids, check tire pressures, watch for unusual wear, fix minor problems before they become major expenses, d) Use off-season time to do major maintenance and repair, e) Have all equipment ready for the field ahead of time. 

  • Safety is extremely important – a) Maintain safety equipment, b) Use goggles, gloves, and other body protection when handling chemicals, c) Use support stands and jacks when working under equipment, d) Wear safety glasses and other protective gear when working on any equipment, e) Be extremely careful around PTOs, chains, belts, gears, and other moving equipment.

  • Remember that in crop production, there are many factors beyond our control – weather, breakdowns, large market swings, etc. As a result, we must do everything we can to perform our best in the areas within our control.

  • Perform all data collection and record-keeping duties as defined by management.

  • Keep waste to a minimum and be constantly evaluating additional ways to reduce costs.

  • Keep facilities neat and presentable.

  • Show respect to any and all visitors and/or customers of the operation.

  • Enjoy what you do and provide suggestions to make working here more satisfying for everyone.

  • Any other duties as required or assigned.

 

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Must understand crop production and practices

  • Must be able to safely & efficiently operate different types of large machinery

  • Possess Class A CDL

  • Private or commercial Class 1A pesticide application license preferred

  • Must be able to operate forklift

  • Must be able to multi-task

  • Strong management skills

  • Ability to drive results and maximize productivity

  • Possess above average analysis and problem-solving skills

  • Proactively and energetically lead projects in a team environment

  • Willing to attend professional seminars & educational events

  • Willing to put in long hours seasonally
